Flower Ellen Whiplee Alansbarn

My original idea based her after Lt ER. But after the first or second session, I played her more as SH from SPP with a hint of Sc, mainly because of the episode that reminded me of the X-F episode Ice. And because of that, her slogan gradually went from "To hunting evil!" to "Adventure!". But that's okay because one of my senior theses was about adventure.

Also, I originally intended to give her spivak pronouns, but then backed off because Garthur and most of my other recent PCs used that as well. I hadn't played a woman character in a long time.

I also had several notes about her time before the campaign, but since with some exceptions most of the rest of the adventure party has not minded each other's backgrounds, I have let some of that slide.

She is a werewolf hunter who travels the sword coast.

3.1 House Rules

• Blind Fighting which gives blind sight also works for non-combat actions
• Divine Smite uses dndbeyond version at the time of creation which does not limit to creatures, not SRD or PHB (this has changed, though the original rules still show up under actions, but not on the detail)
• Flanking rules gives +3 to hit rather than advantage
• Natural 1 on an attack will hit a nearby friendly, else if using a weapon will drop the weapon
• Natural 20 to hit gives damage of max dice roll plus the dice roll

• We're on a quest to rescue or at least discover the fate of some wine and I'm in the lead.
• We meet a small pack of wolves, at least one is a dire wolf.
• I deathblow kill cut the dire wolf in half.
• Obviously the villagers could see we could help them with their dire wolf problems… but were too embarrassed to ask in addition to finding their wine.
• We meet Davian and family.
• Oriff gives me Shield of Faith: AC buff +2 => 20
• Lost the SoF… =(
• We defeated a druid and their plant monsters.

• We picked up immediately from where we stopped last time.
• I still have poor hearing from the druid's thunder.

• The group say someone who looked like me, a resurrected being.
• Lots happened this week.
• We go back to the vineyard.
• We travel south and go up a hill.
• It has a huge wickerman with the magic acorn from the vineyard folks.

• We fight barbarian thugs.

• I got a new weapon:
• Magical battle axe does an extra 1d8 slashing damage to plants and plant creatures. non good PC’s handling the axe take 1HP damage from the swing. Weighs half as much as normal (2 lbs).
• I chop down an evil tree.
• We go back to the vineyard.
• Adrian Mortakov takes us to the sunset gate.
• Blue Water Inn
• We Oriff meets another bard (half-elf/half?). They say they can move beyond the mist.
• Festival of the Blazing Sun, in universe, is in two days.
• Riktovio, the person, invites us over.
• I ask about their wagon; I want to know if it's the one I followed when we were still in Waterdeep.
• We all retire to our rooms for the night.

• Missed last week, 8/27.
• Starting on the evening of the 7th day.
• Madam Eva(ngelion) knew my name, but that's normal since I'm a hero everyone knows.
• I (roll insight nat 1 and) totally believe everything she says because obviously everyone has heard of the folk hero, Flower E.W. Alansbarn!
• The Vistani found, and nursed Strahd back to health and gave them the ability to travel beyond the mists. Note that Strahd cannot travel beyond the mists.
• Some Barovians have no soul.
• Eva says she's over 750 years old.
• She is Strahd's half-sister.
• King Barov is their father.
• Strahd was in love with someone named Tatiana and she was only in love with Serge, the brother.
• Strahd killed Serge and Tatiana threw herself to her death.
• Eva takes my hand and says she doesn't know if I have the spark of Tatiana or not.
• Eva says Marduke wrote our invitations, not Strahd. aka the Mad Wizard, aka the Watcher.
• He has an island in Lake Baratok, a few miles east of Kresk.

• keeping an eye on Drake as you make the way back into Vallaki and have his weapons in your posession.

• Oriff and I go to talk to the bacon thief.
• Yeska told him about he bones.
• He gave the bones to Henrik for food.
• Henrik makes coffins.

• Henrik said Vasili von Holtz paid him to get the bones.
• Also Henrik claims to have six vampires inside the building.
• Drake sneaks around to find the bones; seems to get in and out w/o waking any of them

• Missed the session, but we snuck around the home of Fiona Watcher and then went to rest, mostly slept except for the night folks.

3.14 2021-10-22

• We get and find a breakfast of mostly pig, wolf, probably cow milk products, and oatmeal porridge.
• The elf person who can travel the multiverse shows up and eats some wolf… we chat together.
• Then they leave.
• We sent the letter to Lady Watcher noting our interest in "The Book Club".
• Oriff and I go to buy a tent and some arrows, respectively.
• Amber and Rosie play cards.
• Lady Watcher's son, Nicoli, and Karl show up. They're drunk.
• They say they want to meet with Wit and Drake, but no one else.
• So we go to Watcher's mansion/house.
• Ori gives me clerical/bard inspiration so +d6 for my stealth.
• Stealth: 23, 17 => 17
• We fight some skeletons and win
• But then Lady Watcher comes downstairs and I get a Stealth 19 vs her Perception 20
• Thamior charms her and we avoid any fighting.
• I use Mask of the Wild to remain as discreet as possible
• We get her ledger and send her back to her meeting

• We leave Veloki for Kresk.
• Ms Rosie and I lead the way.
• We get to Kresk.
• I fill up my waterskin with some lesser restoration imbued water.
• Thamior turns into a mouse to enter a gazibo and Amber breaks said building.
• Thamior takes a sword.
• I get the Sunsword.
• We get to the bridge to the tower.
• We cross.
• I use divine sense, but nothing specific.
• Amber knocks on a door and we get struck by lightning and a blue dragon shows up to attack us.
• Amber died…
• Hunter's Mark: 1,2,3,
• I killed the dragon by chopping the top of its head off above the jaw.
• I still had more damage to deal with my other attacks.

• I heal myself.
• Drake sets off an explosion.
• Amber has died.
• A new traveler arrives, Morgan (out of universe, to replace Amber).
• We enter the tower.
• Ez arrives.
• We camp in the tower after some near death explorations; this tower has lots of traps.
• We tell Ez to look for Ricktovio at the Blue Water Inn.
• We venture back to Veloki to stay the night just outside the town in an abandoned building.
• We take shifts during the night. During my shift, there's a knock at the door.
• They claim to be Vasili von Holtz.
• We open the door intending to surpize them, but it's a trap!
• Strahd freezes me and I can't move.

3.17 2021-11-20 (Saturday)

• I am frozen.
• No longer frozen.
• Turn 1
• I use the amulet to cast sunlight for 10 minutes
• And also vow of emnity for 1 minute.
• I get protection from good and evil from Ori.
• Turn 2
• I swing and miss. Then swing a second attack for 31 total radiant damage.
• I remember to use Divine favor, for 1 minute.
• Strahd hits me for 46 necrotic.
• I kill a zombie.
• Strahd blows me up, but the other zombie dies too.
• Then he leaves and Ori revives me.
• We level up. Paladin 6.

3.18 2021-12-03

• We wake up.
• Drake has a rock, probably a sending stone from Strahd.
• Morgan threatens to shoot the rock out of Drake's hand, but the others talk them down.
• The battle last night was difficult. For the second day in a row, I put too much trust into my colleagues.
• I consider to myself that I could use a spell, Command or Hold Person, but I feel like that wouldn't be fair.
• I decide to hold off, but I keep removing the rock by force as an option.
• We venture on.
• On the way we pass some windmill that smells like pies.
• Wit is afraid the windmill because it could hide a trap that leads to our deaths, so we decide not to stop.
• We get to a gated tunnel that goes into a moutainside.
• Drake throws something.
• I feel a chill like all the eyes of the world are watching me.
• So I use divine sense: REF: you don’t detect anything within the 60 feet, its more of a cold hand ran down your spine
• We get to Madame Eva's usual place, but she's not around.
• Gareth leads us to their campfire.
• Drake pulls out his dolls and it makes the folks angry.
• We sleep.
• Wake up to daybreak of the 10th day
• Gareth gives Wit 75 gp and some other things to the others, with a bit of apology for what happened the night before to Drake.
• Regardless, Wit is very unhappy with Drake.
• We arrive in Barovia and that looks empty except for the sobbing…
• Flower is suspicious that drake is just a scapegoat… and there might be something more sinister going on
• We go across the street to the shoppe
• Mad Mary, crying for a week now.

• We decide to take Brenda back to the holy building.
• Brenda looks a lot like me.
• Morgan and I take the lead on the trip. They talks to me about taking away Drake's stone…
• We stop off at Madame Eva's camp for the night.
• Madame Eva presents three cards, a thief, avenger, and healer. Then looks at me, and takes back the thief.
• Then we talk a little bit about the Sunsword and its history
• Madame Eva takes the stone away from Drake

3.21 2022-01-14

• Morgan talks to Eva again.
• We leave. I take the lead and only get a 12 survival, but others do better.
• We go back to Veloki.
• We pass by the Meat Pie Windmill again, but decide not to stop.
• At Veloki, we enter and they close the gate behind us.
• We head to the Blue Water Inn
• Folks talk, someone killed a dire wolf
• Morgan gets into something with a guy who has some kind of disfiguration…
• Morgan goes upstairs to take a bath
• Adrian Mortokov sits with us
• Drake and I talk to the other dire wolf hunters
• I was planning on socializing with them, but I bodged it and also wasn't impressed with how they killed the wolves
• Most of us go to the church to drop off Brenda
• Lucian's sister, Livia Petrovna, wife of some big shot in the town, is visiting also
• The other half of the party goes to Lady Watcher's, but she's not at home
• We all go back to the Tavern and get ushered along by a town guard enforcing curfew

• When everyone else comes out, Morgan, Wit and I got back in to destroy some kind of magic glass sphere.
• We start to leave town, immediately. 8:30 am ish.
• Drake stumbed off while we left and talked to some of the guards.
• Lady Lovina Watcher
• I rolled two 20s for Perception, we find a mirror and I took it.
• Where's Gereth?
• Madame Eva brings Lord Nocolai Watcher back to life.

3.24 2022-02-11

• Moran is gone.
• We leave the camp.
• Morgantha sells pies.
• A fiendish aura is given off by the woman in front of you.
• We get to the castle and met someone named Escher who lead us to our guest chambers, which include some evening atire.
• They told us we had a few hours to make ourselves comfortible.
• We can tour the castle on our own, but we should not go below the ground floor.
• So we venture around. Everything seems extremely dusty and unkept.
• Ori casts light on my shield.
• In the chapel, we find several bodies and a magical silver ward.
• Wit takes a cloak and Ori takes a mace from the dead.
• Eventually we make our way back.
• Someone greets us again to say we have just enough time to settle and get dressed for the occasion.
• I decide to dress in the dress supplied rather than my armour, but I bring the amulet and the sword. I can tell the sword does not want me to leave it.
• Finally at dinner, we meet the group, which includes Morgan.
• The vampire leader says that seven centuries have past since the mists showed up. He claims we were brought to him and that he is trapped just like us. So who knows who gave us our invitation maps that started all of this…
• Then he engages in conversation, one-by-one. He seems a bit upset that I wear his brother's sword. He says that after our visit, I will no longer be safe from him on the grounds.
• Eventually dinner ends, he apologizes for making a scene, though I don't know if that recinds the death threats.

• We sneek around the Burger's house
• Drake tries to pick the lock and makes some noise
• Ori casts silence on the door
• Wit notices a sigil on the door
• Drake goes in the 2nd floor window; Rosie gets up to the top level
• Then Drake opens the back door by the kitchen and the door blows out a fire trap
• We all get in and Ori drops silence
• Two guards inside are bored, so we leave
• We go to Lady Watcher's house
• Ori gives me guidance and I roll the same 18 net stealth
• We look around the house, sneak around
• Strahd is there
• Stuff happens
• Lady Watcher and Strahd poof out

• During the night, Drake goes out into the mists and gets 3 levels of exhaustion
• Ori purchases some "half" plate armour. But where's the other half?
• We pickup the goat weather clothes, I mean cold, not goat
• We go back to Serge's fountain
• We get thunder-blasted and lightning'ed
• Things settle back down
• Drake buys a goat
• We head back to the wizards of wine
• We head back over to that weird tree
• Lord Watcher is there
• We break the bad news that his wife is dead
• He comments that his daughter Stella thinks she is a cat and his son has a drinking problem

• Everyone kibitzes and then we go to bed for the night
• Next morning we go back down to the twisted tree
• Lord Watcher is trying to commune with the Mother of the tree
• Thamior uses a spell to talk to plants
• We had to WIS save
• The consciousness that responds says their name is C Kain is possessing the tree
• He is a soul hungerer
• C Kain has ressurection granting powers; they use it to lick the souls when they come back to life
• This is the same tree I chopped down; it has grown back
• We go back to Kresk to the Abbey to see if the Abbot is the one with the ressurection powers
• The Abbot is really odd
• Vassilika kinda reminds me of me… with her mouth sewn shut
• Divine Sense: Leo is undead. Zig and Otto have some kind of evil. Vassilika is a construct, so nothing. Abbot is celestial.
• We talk to the Abbot for a while, trying to convince him that he might be accidentally collaborating with a demonic power (C Kain). But that makes him mad and we enter combat!

• We fight the Abbot
• Upon defeating the Abbot, they basically split open and the real Abbot steps out.
• They introduce themself as Sorry El
• We talk, Sorry El had made a deal with C Kane, but it was bad deal
• Wit asks about the teleport circle
• We see the circle, went upstairs
• I use divine sense; there's lots of evil around here, but not the circle
• The circle is a one-way to the catacombs of castle Ravenloft
• Sorry El would sent over thralls 3 every 10 years or so
• I ask if anyone else has been to the Amber Temple; supposedly someone else who made the Amber Vaults went and came back
• They mention something about Exethanter the Arch Mage

• The burger master gives me waterskins and rations and tells me I can find vials from Judeth the apothecary

• We fight some floaty fireball skulls
• We explore the Amber Temple
• Then we fight some other monsters
• We fight some big baddie
• The big baddie tries to force me back saying that if I stay out of the fight no harm will come to me. I ignore this
• Thamior gets turned to stone
• Wit gets charmed
• Ori almost dies a million time and kills the big baddie

• Thamior is still turned to stone and we have no way to restore him
• Leo died in the fight, so Ori gathers the bones so we can revive him the next morning
• We take a short rest, but most of use actually need a long rest
• Drake becomes exhausted during the short rest
• We explore the Amber Temple some more
• Lots of things happen, some of which I might or might not know in or out of universe
• Our shadows seem to be alive and independent from us in some corridors
• We fight some monsters in a room
• In that same room, Wit talks to a block of amber. It asks him to ask me to "put out the torch" so I sheath the sword, but then it stops talking to us
• We keep exploring
• Doors are dangerous; we accidentally gas ourselves and basically half our health
• So we go back to the room with the frozen bodies and take a short rest

3.49 2022-09-30

• Leo busts down all the doors.
• Vektna the God of Secrets
• We use one of the magic patches to bring Thamior back
• We fight some more flying skulls
• We find a survivor, but he's a bit mad, and old enough to remember Strahd when he was still pre-vampire
• Xenthur the Wizard
• Athurna, Shilax, Meveris
• Then we fought a golem and I killed it
• 15 lbs of amber TBD on character sheet
• I get one more amber

3.50 2022-10-07

• Ori gives me Aid for +20
• Motivational Speech
  • Advantage on WIS saves
  • So another +20 for 40 additional HP
  • Advantage on attacks on anyone attacking me
• We kill some ghasts, or whatever ghostly baddies
• I should record order all the time: Flower, Ms. Rose, Drake, Ori, Thamior, Wit, DM1
• Then we fight and kill another golem
• Get some cash
• Then go into another room, find baddies, and stop for the night

3.51 2022-10-14

• We go into init
• Ori gives me:
  • protection from good and evil for 10 minutes
  • bardic inspiration d8
• I take -9 necrotic damage reducing my max
• I use the amulet's spell for sunlight, 10 minutes!
• We meet, Mr Timbus, Padiwag "Wacky" Timbus
• The book on ravenloft has gone missing
• Vanbeer
• The Mad Wizard, big beautiful beard, bald, tall, the architect of Ravenloft
• He's in M's tomb of foes
• Wacky came here around 500 years ago
• I talked to Vampyre, "Van Beer" but I don't get much out of it and avoid taking "the deal" S-Dog took
• Wacky's missing a page
• Vilinous was the person from the lecture hall

3.52 2022-10-21

• Ex-Anthur the Lich is somehwere in the lower levels
• Divine Sense, he's clearly evil
• So does Wacky
• Then we fight
• Ori blesses me for an extra d4 on saves and attacks
• OOU: My character sheet breaks so I track things on paper. I know I still have extra slots
• I kill Ex-Anthur w/ divine smite, erring on the side of 2nd level slots.
• Then we find his box
• OOU: My sheet comes back, I under estimated my last two attacks and I still had a 3rd not a 1st level slot
• I break the box
• OOU: I have a hard to checking the box for the special slot for Crusty's Mantle
• We leave the Amber Temple and head back down the mountain

3.53 2022-10-28

• We get to town
• We rest in town
• Finally we step on the teleportation circle and wind up in the crypts of Ravenloft
• The crypts are dark, mainly a very large room with around 50 crypts
• The floors are covered in bat guano and we discover the high ceilings are home to probably thousands of bats
• Quietly we discuss what we should do
• I use locate object to search for the Sunsword; it's right behind us behind a gated room
• Ori casts silence on the gate and the lever that we assume will raise it
• Inside the crypt room I use my divine sense, but for the most part, aside from the usual sparks I get from the party, this room feels "clean"
• I approach the casket in the middle of the room, which easily slides open, and paying my respects I ask for the help of Serge
• I get the Sunsword back, as well as Serge's +2 plate armour
• Exploring…
• We climb up 3 or 4 landings in the stairwell, but it deadends

3.54 2022-11-05 (Saturday)

• Note about last time, the person at the Abbey had put down all the people who had been saved. I would have felt uneasy about this.
• Protection from good and evil
• "Hello my name is Flower EW Alansbarn, you killed your brother, prepare to die!"
• Friends of S-Dog is now disabled because we fought each other

3.55 2022-11-12 (Saturday)

• I use Locate Object on Strahd's sword
• We eventually make it back into the sacred chamber where we made it last time w/ the dead people and the mace and the chain mail that we saw about a year ago out-of-universe
• Then we venture down into the flooded dungeon
• Then we use a teleportation braizer using the yellow transport
• We end up in the crypt we didn't completely go into that we saw just a few sessions ago
• Ori casts on me Protection from good and evil

3.56 2022-11-18

• Wild goose chase following Rahadin
• We fight him and osme gargoyles
• Then we fight S-Dog and a revived R-Dog
• Protection from good and evil
• I re-rolled
• Ori gets febbleminded, dang…

3.57 2022-12-03 (Saturday)

• We destroy Strahd
• Level 12!

3.58 2022-12-09

• After Strahd Day 1
• We wake the next morning and discuss restoring Ori who still cannot speak or act much…
• We consider the braizer portal, but the directions are vague and we do not want to risk ending up somewhere we don't want to go
• We find the stable w/ the carriage
• Drake manifests a riding horse
• A day and a half later we arrive at Veloki
• I ask for a dagger, a bag and/or pouch or two, an iron nail, some liqorice root, some feathers, some white cloth, water skins and/or vials. I get most of this, but handful of nails, a yard of cloth. Sans the roots
• After Strahd Day 2
• Another day after the lantern ritual

• We go back to Ravenloft and find a crown of S-Dog's w/ some diamonds in it
• We find Madame Eva
• Eva restores Oriff
• Party at the Ruins of Barez
